Sarahjanes was created over 6 years ago from our love of 2 fabrics – Mexican Oilcloth & Minkee – and the desire to be our own boss! We know it’s a weird combo, but we love them both so much! Most items are hand sewn by us in the beautiful Texas Hill Country and inspired by the things we love. In 2005 we introduced the monogramming option to all our items by the purchase of our first embroidery machine. Now, 4 years and 3 machines later we have branched out and offer a full service embroidery service to our customers purchasing items from us and also items that they purchase elsewhere. In 2009 we added a second option to personalization’s
.vinyl letters. They are great for items that are to small to embroider, like the checkbook or passport covers, luggage tags, and much more. So, take a look around our website and then make sure to visit us at a show near you during the fall and you will see why we are so passionate about Oilcloth & Minkee! -Sarah Voss What exactly is Oilcloth???
The original Oilcloth was used widely as a tablecloth in the 1950’s and 1960’s. It is widely loved because it never stains, just simply wipe clean with a wet rag and you have a new tablecloth. The new oilcloth is manufactured in Mexico (hence the bright colors!) and is a printed vinyl with a poly/cotton woven backing, not a laminated fabric, that is waterproof. You still clean it in the same way as the original
with a warm soapy rag. Some of the small items can be washed in the top shelf of the dishwasher. Larger items can be rinsed in the kitchen sink, and for the really large items, hang them over the clothesline and spray off with the hose! For best results, store the oilcloth rolled up, not folded. To remove wrinkles, simply lay the oilcloth in the sun and the wrinkles will disappear with the warmth of the sun. Do not launder, dry-clean, or iron your oilcloth. Oilcloth products and yardage are not intended for use by children 12 and under or approved for clothing. What is Minkee? Minkee, also known as Minky, is absolutely the softest, snuggliest fabric around. It has replaced chenille in most baby items and is known to be very addictive to both babies and Adults! Minkee is so soft that you can just sit and pet it all day long and not realize the day is gone! It comes in various textures: flat, raised bumps, raised lines, raised paisley, and raised animal print patterns. Minkee is very durable, machine washable & dryable, and never loses its softness. |
